Design Philosophy

Diversity

As a designer, I recognize the importance of diversity and strive to create empowering experiences for all people. I believe that diversity is reflected in the experiences of individuals, and I am committed to continuously growing and learning from these experiences. By embracing diverse perspectives and approaches, I can create digital products that are inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable for all users.

Collaboration

Collaboration is at the heart of my design philosophy. I thrive on building new connections and working alongside a team of talented individuals. Working with my colleagues is a source of inspiration for my designs. By exchanging ideas and perspectives, we can uncover new possibilities and arrive at solutions that are both innovative and effective. I believe that the best designs come from a collaborative effort, where each team member brings their unique skills and strengths to the table.

Strategy

Strategy is a crucial aspect of the design process that can greatly contribute to the success of a project. As I developed my skills in UX, I realized that strategy was often the missing piece in my early projects. I am passionate about developing effective strategies that guide our team towards creating impactful designs that meet the needs of our users. I believe that a well-crafted strategy can ensuring that we are all working towards a common vision.

Failure

Failure is the driving factor for success. In my experience, the best design solutions often arise from a willingness to take risks and try new approaches, even if they don't always work out as planned. By embracing failure as a natural part of the design process, we can develop a mindset of continuous improvement and iteration, which ultimately leads to more effective and impactful designs.

Anne Pivonka
UX Designer @ Nationwide

"I had the pleasure of working with Ellie and her team as the Sponsor of a PUX product during the Fall 2021 semester. Ellie did a wonderful job as co-lead of the project, always coming to the weekly sponsor connects with fruitful updates and thoughtful questions that enabled the team to avoid scope-creep and prioritize the most important aspects. Over the semester, the team conducted UX research, created user personas and designed mocks/widgets that would delight the user and eliminate current pain points. The final deliverable was comprehensive, well-thought out, and turn-key to integrate with other work and drive action internally."
